Snack options:

Sugar-packed sweets and snacks are the norm at parties, but these days many parents try to incorporate some healthier alternatives. We have some healthy kids snacks that are not at all difficult to make and some that are also naturally sweet, which means your kids will love them.

Homemade Lollies

Homemade Lollies

Frozen snacks are always a hit with children, especially in hot months. These lovely lollies are not only healthy, but also inexpensive and super easy to make.

Simply pour your child’s favourite yoghurt halfway into some ice cream moulds. Then, add a few fruits such as; mango, strawberry, banana, apples or peaches. Once that is done, poke through some ice cream sticks and pop them into the freezer. They will be ready to serve after an hour or two.

Chocolate Covered Fruits

Chocolate Covered Fruits

The word, “chocolate” is enough to scare away any parent when it comes to snacks for their kids. The trick with this one is to use dark chocolate. Dark chocolate has many health benefits and you can introduce it to your child by starting with an option with a slightly lower cocoa percentage.

All you have to do is melt some dark chocolate in the microwave. Then, cut up a few fruits like bananas, strawberries and grapes into bite-sized pieces and dip it into the chocolate. For added flavour you can dip them into some crushed nuts, rolled oats or even healthy seeds like sunflower or sesame seeds.
