With Spring here, and summer fast approaching, one way to keep your little ones cool and refreshed is with one of Jabu the Giraffe’s cool iced tea recipes. A healthy alternative to sugary drinks, our Laager Tea4Kidz range of flavoured Rooibos teas is packed with loads of nutrients and is also caffeine free.
Whether your little one has a birthday party coming up or you’re looking for a healthy drink to add to their school lunch, give one of Jabu’s Iced Teas a try:
Laager Tea4Kidz, honey and vanilla Iced Tea
Ingredients:
- 5 Tea4Kidz Original teabags (or you can use Tea4Kidz Vanilla Custard teabags)
- 1 litre of boiled water
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence
- 3 tablespoons of honey
Method:
- Place the Tea4Kidz teabags into a jug, add in the boiled water and allow to steep for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the teabags, stir in the honey and vanilla essence and let the tea cool until it reaches room temperature.
- Once it has cooled, place it in the fridge or top it up with ice cubes to enjoy right away.
Apple, Peach & Apricot Iced Tea
Ingredients:
- 5 Peach & Apricot flavoured Tea4Kidz teabags
- 1 litre of boiled water
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- 1 cup of apple juice
- 2 trays of ice cubes
- 1 apple, peach and apricot, sliced (optional)
Method:
- In a large jug, add in the boiled water and the Peach & Apricot flavoured Tea4Kidz teabags. Let it steep for 5 – 10 minutes, depending on how strong you would like the tea to be.
- Remove the teabags and stir in the apple juice and honey.
- To enjoy right away, add in the freshly sliced fruit and top it up with ice cubes! If your kiddies can’t get enough of Jabu’s Iced Tea – you can place it in the fridge for them to enjoy over the next few days.
- Enjoy!
Strawberry flavoured Tea4Kidz Iced Tea
Ingredients:
- 5 Strawberry flavoured Laager Tea4Kidz teabags
- 1 litre of boiled water
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 cup of strawberries and/or other berries, sliced
Method:
- In a large jug, pour in the boiled water and drop in theStrawberry flavoured Tea4Kidz teabags. Let it steep for 5 minutes, depending on how strong your little ones enjoy their tea, before removing the teabags.
- Stir in the honey and once cooled, add in the sliced fruit.
- Place it in the fridge or enjoy right away.
Tips:
* Iced tea, without fruit, can be stored in the fridge for up to 6 days.
* If you have ice lolly moulds, you can decant anyleft-over iced tea into the moulds along with some sliced fruit to make your own lollies.
*Have a teaspoon nearby! If you’ve added fruit to the iced tea, let your little ones eat it afterwards.
